Architecture Culture and History 1

PROJECT: PRECEDENT STUDIES

In a group of 4, we were required to conduct analysis with my group mates on specific building from the Palladanian Period, which is Victoria and Albert museum through drawing, written essay, model making and verbal presentation.

Below is the attached essay of our work:

Presentation board - Individual

  1. I found a lot of information on our assigned building. have more information available than others. Our analysis includesConcept analysis (building concept and/or architect concepts), building massing analysis (structure, geometry), circulation Analysis, spatial organization analysis (public vs. private, symmetry & balance, unit to whole, repetitive to unique, additive and subtractive, hierarchy), building section analysis.

        1. We are to create a model to communicate with our personal analysis. Our model is a portion of the entire project that it is high significance. Our model consists of the important structure components, ideas and concept of our precedent. Our model must be 30cm x 30cm with the depth of 10cm made of balsa only.

Below is the model done by my group and I:

        Reflection:

Through out this entire project, I am able to recognize and recall appropriate verbal architectural vocabulary when referring to building types, styles and periods which is the Palladanian period and our building which is Victoria and Albert Museum. We get to exemplify the sequence of historical periods and how they are represented architecturally, classify the sequence of historical periods and how they are represented architecturally and produce building analysis which document intentions, concepts, patterns, disciplines, architectural language and contextual relationships.
